This is from the … more Alicia Penalba (1913-1982), Signed, Dated (1981), Wove Paper Maquette Etching, Trial Proof (EE = l’épreuve d’état). This is from the estate of the publisher Pierre Lecuire. An edition of 130 etchings were published in 1982, in Le Livre des Livres. Twenty-five of the 130 etchings were signed. There were four artist’s proofs and four RARE Trial Proofs. As the name implies, the four trial proof’s were the first initial runs which greatly vary thus each is a UNIQUE one of a kind. The Trial Proofs were NEVER published. Only four exist (see last photo listed). One of four is in my personal collection. This is the first time this maquette is available for sale in the United States. Alicia’s art works are world renowned and often fetch five figures. Own a rare unique piece of her artisan history. less
