Magical, mystical and metaphysical, this spirit altar embodies the energy of the Medieval tradition of portraying fantastical beasts. Each altar has its own meaning and handcrafted symbolism. Brimming with lively animals both real and fantastic, the bestiary was one of the great illuminated manuscript traditions of the Middle Ages, this is my own interpretation of that tradition.
Altars transcend culture, religion and time. These sacred spaces allow the individual to express what is most important to them. By spending time with an altar you’re entering a different mental space, one that allows for reflection and clarity. You’re doing something with this sacred space, planting a seed, setting an intention, thinking about an idea, that can take root and grow.
This handcrafted ceramic art piece is made with intention.
Has wiring on the back for hanging, can be hung on a nail or small hook.
Color: White clay body looks more bright white in natural light, and looks more beige in unnatural or dull light. I do my best to picture my items in natural light and showcase the color of this stoneware clay. This is an off-white clay with black design. less
