The 1950s lamp produced by Stilnovo features a design that perfectly embodies the style and innovation of the period. Stilnovo, founded in Milan in 1946, is known for producing lighting fixtures that combine functionality and aesthetic beauty, often collaborating with internationally renowned designers. The base of the lamp is made of a thick green Murano glass, characterized by a slender shape that is slightly tapered toward the center, giving the piece elegance and stability. Murano glass is known for its quality and the artisanal process by which it is made, making each piece unique. The pleated paper shade adds a touch of lightness and sophistication to the overall design. Pleating allows for a soft and even spread of light, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This lamp has three different lighting modes, offering versatility and adaptability to different lighting needs. This type of functionality was advanced for the time and reflects Stilnovo's focus on technological innovation. The lamp's design combines elements of 1950s modernism with traditional Murano glass craftsmanship. The combination of natural materials and technological innovation is typical of mid-century modern design, which placed emphasis on functionality without compromising aesthetics. This lamp would have been used in elegant interiors, such as living rooms, studies or bedrooms, where it could have served both as a main source of lighting and as a central decorative piece. The ability to choose from three different lighting modes made it particularly versatile, suitable for both ambient lighting and specific activities such as reading.
