The bowl having a lobed rim and finely … more A very fine antique Japanese Meiji period Satsuma pottery bowl, circa 1890.
The bowl having a lobed rim and finely decorated & gilt to the outside with a 'thousand flowers' decoration, the inside of the bowl also with gilded and floral decoration. The interior of the bowl having two hand-painted panels, one of bamboo and butterflies the other with the Imperial couple and three courtiers, the panels are very beautifully & skillfully executed. The underside of the bowl is decorated with circular mon type devises and two bands of geometric red and gold decoration, to the center is the artist's four character chop mark, which we believe is for the artist Kizan?
A beautiful late 19th century finely decorated Meiji period Satsuma bowl, with no damage or restoration. less
