The chair back and seat bottom are caned and a single loose cushion is tied to the frame while each of the twelve chairs features open arms with upholstered rests. Chairs are sturdy and mostly tight in the joints with only the minor wiggle associated with this form of chair; they are ready for active regular use in the home; extremely worn finish with some chipping and loss to the carvings throughout, the wear of the surface mostly just adding some aesthetic appeal. One shell carving in the crest of one chair has seen a large chip loss which was “repaired” with some kind of composite material that was formed to loosely simulate the missing shell carving - a poor repair, though not particularly noticeable in the scheme of things. Caning in good condition with only the most minor breaks. less
