Saarinen used bent plywood in novel ways to sculpt the legs for the Executive Chair, an innovation that won him and Charles Eames the MoMA Organic Design in Home Furnishings Competition in 1941.

The front legs of the Executive Chair are slightly longer than the rear pair, putting the seat at a slight incline that gives you the comfort of a lounge chair in a much smaller form factor.

The legs, made from maple, were refinished without stain, bringing out the natural color of this beautifully aged wood. Executive Chairs of this era use a fiberglass shell for the back, which we discovered during reupholstery.

The use of the logo pictured here began in 1947. The condition of the original latex rubber foam at the time of acquisition and the condition of the tags indicates a 1950s build.

All chairs retain original hardware. Two of the four came with fabric tags stamped by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

We spared no expense bringing these back to life and they are now ready for a new home. less
