Small divots on the surface aside, the table is in excellent refinished condition. The original tag remains on the underside, and the hardware connecting the legs to the surface is original. less

This 71" teak coffee table, purchased in Denmark between 1948 - 1952, remained in the same family until now.
Designed … more This 71" teak coffee table, purchased in Denmark between 1948 - 1952, remained in the same family until now.
Designed by Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgaard-Nielsen, the table sits atop hexagonal tapered legs and features impossibly smooth curves at the narrow ends. The sloped rims, which rise 1.5 inches above the surface, melt into the solid teak edge banding that runs the perimeter of the table.
At nearly six feet in length, it is a statement piece that manages to remain understated. A perfect embodiment of "Japandi" aesthetic, crafted three quarters of a century before the term came into fashion.
Manufactured by Axel Albeck in Denmark c. 1950, this work of art was fully refinished in Los Angeles in 2024. less
