Vintage: Early 17th. Century Italian Baroque carved walnut adjustable Leggio, book holder, with hand-forged iron details. The patina and age of the wood, showcases the honed, hand-carved skills which this piece has in spades, Made in that era, in a simple, folk-like carved details throughout, give or offset the era and style synonymous to the period. Incidentally we have chosen to showcase the piece, which has a slide-rule type of intertwined mechanics, upon which to load and upload many books, literature and what not into and onto this piece. An architectural design wonder for its time. Notice the dental-like molded details, which enable on to raise and/or lower the height of a book placed upon this piece, in addition to the aforementioned capability. A den/office/library/a literary-wise guru's collection, would appreciate this wonder, be it in a archival environment, it is a quintessential add-on. inclusive to and amongst this foray and interior scoped domain, not least of which and not to deter one. It should preside and be overseen in such elements; be it chosen to also be incorporate into today's living domain of interiors, scholars and collectors' would suffice, but do not be inhibited, from anyone attaining a piece of age-old artistry of useful design esthetics, from a bygone era. This is a piece which simply put intertwines any interior, with a layered effect, into one's interior diaspora, and a wonderful and historical conversation piece notwithstanding. This piece is signed CU at the front apron with a hand-carved diamond shape box with the letters "CU," cared within this diamond shaped carving.
