The coffer having a lift up lid enclosing a storage space for clothing or linens, the chest is fitted with a lidded candle till to the left side, (candles at this time were made from tallow & kept moths away from the linens).
The coffer front having three sqaure panels with geometric inlay surrounding three beautiful flowering urns inlaid with fruitwood & ebony. The chest has the original lock and key and bronze lockplate. To the interior the chest has the original silvered iron strap hinges and to the sides the original wrought iron handles, the chest is raised on carved bracket feet.
The chest is ready to receive your bed linens or clothing, it could also be easlity used as window seat or bench at foot of the bed, it will easily support the weight of two people.
