Use this antique frame for another piece of art or photo, or keep the steel engraving which dates from about 1840.
The Eastlake frame is from the 1880's Aesthetic period when elaborate surface decoration was in style. The deep frame is constructed of ebonized and speckle painted wood and gilded on the inner edge. The mat appears more recent--in the last 30 years. The print and glass are original with some fading of the print due to light exposure.
