I believe it is constructed from a heavy wrought iron with a seedy glass body. This is a gothic style light fixture. we rewired the fixture and made sur it is up to code to hang, but i would not hang it in the direct weather. I would display this light under roof or at an over hang. This is an antique fixture - our best estimate is 1940s. The sockets and wires showed the age of this fixture. The patina is very natural, and we will upgrade the sockets to wet location if you need this done. less
