About the artist: In 2014, Helen Manning (Clark) was shown at London's Victoria & Albert Museum in their widely acclaimed and hugely influential “From Club to Catwalk" exhibition. This step into the public gallery and museum presence marked a significant milestone in a career, that has seen her design textile artwork for clients such as Paul Smith, Betty Jackson, Yves Saint Laurent, and Calvin Klein, amongst others. For decades, high-fashion clothing collections bearing her designs have been sold worldwide in major luxury stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Macy's, Harrods, and Liberty of London.
Graduating from London's Royal College of Art, in 1983, Manning Clark received both an MA and the coveted traveling scholarship to explore physically and through her artwork, the landscapes of the southern Mediterranean. Now focusing almost exclusively on large-scale painterly abstract works, she is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, an invited artist to Mall Galleries exhibitions, and has appeared on the BBC Culture Show.
Her glowing colors and broad brushstrokes convey luminous, sensual, and unique images inspired by flowering plants and natural and urban landscapes. They have ignited the interest of private and public collectors alike around the world including the V&A, who hold works in their permanent collection as well as the Glasgow School of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago who recently acquired several pieces each for their archives.
