Malibu potteries was in business for only about six years producing tiles known for their bright colorful glazes and difficult orange glaze. Here’s a perfect example of a mastered yellow and orange glaze. My favorite part is the way that they let the glaze drip down the side to give it some character. Malibu pottery made thousands of tiles that you can find mostly in old 1920’s Spanish style Los Angeles homes, churches, park fountains, hotels, and museums. I believe that whoever purchases the set is a true Malibu collector and can appreciate its rarity and beauty. There may be only about two of these ever in existence and they were not made for the public. They really belong in a museum. The set features one tea pitcher and 10 tea cups. I also listed three pictures of the set that was shown in the original Malibu tile and pottery catalog. As you can see in the picture, there are only 3 cups and a pitcher that has a blue glaze. This just makes our set that much more special and rare. Each individual piece is marked on the bottom “Malibu 1926”. See less
