A splendid Burmese stringed tiger marionette hand carved from wood but with a cloth neck and tail. Hand painted with mustard yellow, black, and off white, the tiger is very well carved with jointed legs and jaw. Its original strings and wooden string holder are present. A tiger puppet was an integral character in all Burmese marionette troupes. Burma is in Southeast Asia and now called Myanmar.
