He chose the name 'Akari' for … more from 1951, the American-Japanese artist and designer Isamu Noguchi designed the Akari Light Sculptures. He chose the name 'Akari' for these objects, a Japanese word meaning 'light'. The shade of this lamp is made of Washi paper. This converts the cold direct light from the light source into a nice, warm and even distribution. The lamp has a standard E27 fitting and is a total of 200 cm high and approximately 40 cm in diameter. We were unable to find any markings on this lamp.
