Early C.1962s; Vintage and highly rare and original Hans J. Wegner designed slatted, folding chair, made of Mahogany for Johannes Wegner, Denmark, 1962. Chair was produced between 1960-69, In the Scandinavian Modern, Danish Mid-Century era, with a minimalist simplicity and look. Chair is a lattice seat and back slant, x-framed construction, with flared legs, that taper to thicker ends, as shown in multitude of images, gives off an elegance to the overall look, yet the encased frame mimics a slight curved effect from the tapered aspects of the overall construction. The wood has a warm, and soft honey coloration to the finish, and has been treated with a natural teak oil to maintain the quality of the wood throughout these years, so as not to dry, as wood contracts and expands given the temperature. By that very nature alone, a minimal and refined simplicity has been implemented in the construction aspect, yet intricate in the design esthetic and process. Notice in close-up images, the type of screws, and covered fittings used are treated and in copper, to not discolor or rust thus preserving the mahogany. Also....the slats to seat base has a stretcher on ether side, front and back, to maintain the division of the slats, strengthen them while also maintaining the uniformity of the mainframe, as well s the added extra format, of being able to fold it, and easily take to and fro, within any interior domain, or for transport. A casual and simple lounge chair, with good design bones.

This chair was amongst a plethora of Mid-Century and Scandinavian Design guru pieces, throughout an industrial open office workplace environment. This piece was purchased via a well known world-wide web portal for Vintages in 2016. It has sat idle if not as decorative purposes, thus the condition has been superbly maintained. less
