The oblong frame in a wheat rattan evokes a cottage charm with its organic appeal and with its classic braid and twist design. This is a design that is often imitated, due to its humble organic form and design, but this is an authentic period piece that has been lovingly treasured.

The mirror meets the hallmarks of the period by maintaining the original finishes. The checkered nail heads and “flathead” screws used to secure the wooden panel, which uses identical wood as the frame. The rattan itself is in the ideal condition, neither damp nor brittle, as well as the typical oxidation marks at the edges of the glass panel itself, lending even further to its age. These spots are hidden by the panel and unseen behind the rattan. The mirror measures 12" x 9.25" and the visible portion of the mirror is 8.5" x 5.5"

The visible parts of the mirror are flawless. It was kept in a clean and smoke free home, and is clearly the work of a calculated craftsperson who was a master of their trade.

Note, this is a blonde or wheat colored rattan and in some pictures does come out a shade darker than it truly is. See less
