This is a mid century modern vintage Walnut barrel arm chair with caned sides and a tufted back made by Morganton Chair in Lenoir, NC in the 1960's ( , ). This chair stands out from others of this period with its rear turned in legs which compliments the curves and proportions of the rest of the chair's profile.
My favorite feature is that even though the chair features a tufted back, the cane continues around the barrel, where they used matching upholstered buttons. Often designers don't consider the appearance of the backs of armchairs figuring they will be kept against a wall, but this is obviously a showcase piece meant to be kept as a beautiful focal point no matter your point of view.
It was in excellent condition when acquired and has been steam cleaned twice just to bring out the brilliant powder blue sheen of the cotton velvet upholstery, and has no stains or odors. Minor scuffs to the walnut as seen in pictures.
