This is an original oil on canvass and exceptional Portrait of “Mrs. Siddons.
Sarah Siddons (July 5, 1775 – June 8 1831) was a Welsh actress, the best known tragedienne of the 18th century. She was a greatly celebrated actress of her time for 30 years.
The painting is based on an original mezzotint of the period and is a faithful and striking painting.
There are many examples of this work, printed on silk or board etc of varying skill and talent but this one stands out above the rest.
It is signed Zaida N, whom based on style and execution, refers to Zaida R. Nasser, a noted Mexican artist.
