Oil on board C. 1880, signed lower right and titled and signed with “Paris”.on reverse. Fine example of the Barbizon School. Rossert was born on the Belgian border close to Lille. Known mainly for landscapes in and around Paris, Normandy, and coastal areas. He was a student of Charles Emile Carole’s-Durand, the founder of the “Societe Nationals Des Beaux Arts”. Rossert is listed in major art references such as E. Benezit’s “ Des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs, Et Graveurs”, Volume 9, page 101. In addition his work is represented in the Museum Rath in Geneva, Switzerland. Excellent condition. From a prominent Georgia estate. Measures 15” x 22” unframed, and 23” x 29” framed. See less
