This magnificent, antique butcher block table dates back to the late 19th century.
It was made in Belgium by Pierre … more This magnificent, antique butcher block table dates back to the late 19th century.
It was made in Belgium by Pierre Gyssels, and it is the largest one that was made at that time.
It measures a full 79" long x 33 1/4" from the floor to the top of the table, and 38 3/4" from the floor to the top of the back piece, x 27 1/2" deep.
It is in outstanding condition, with almost no slope/dip to the top surface, enabling it to be used to display porcelain pieces or art, without fear of them falling over. In addition, on the top are two very long knife holders.
This wonderful butcher block also has all of its original brass hardware, including brass braces on the corners, brass ring drawer pulls and decorative brass roundels.
Aside from being an extraordinary kitchen or dining decorative piece, this butcher block also can function beautifully as a dresser for towels, bed linens, or "out-of-season" items with its two drawers. Each drawer is 29 1/2" wide x 20" from front-to-back x 8" deep, and despite their size, they open and close smoothly and easily.
The entire butcher block is backed by a sturdy, matching, wooden slab, and is supported on six solid carved wood reeded legs.
This wonderful butcher block table would make an amazing statement in a large kitchen, as well as a gorgeous, stand-alone, piece on which to display and to hold all of your collected treasures. less
