This is a beautiful classic bright-white cotton early jacquard matelasse bed cover from France that is in good condition. The padding is very three-dimensional, with a center medallion surrounded by borders of floral garlands, ferns, and geometric patterns and framed by a broad border in a diamond pattern. It would be pretty folded at the foot of any size bed, as a throw blanket over furniture, or for upholstery or pillows. It is twin-sized, great for a day bed.
This comes from the archives of Deirdre Coughlin, founder of Phoebe’s Closet. She specialized in antique textiles and sold them to many New York City Designers, including Ralph Lauren (that’s how I know her), Charlotte Moss, and Schumacher, among many others.
