Walter Battiss (1906-1982) is widely considered a premiere South African abstract artist. In 2014 the Walter Battiss Company approached Mervyn Gers, a premiere ceramics producers in South Africa, create a limited line of ceramic pieces featuring a selection of Battiss' paintings. This large plate is one of those pieces and is number 1/200 in the series.
The series was launched at the Design Indaba Expo in 2014 and this was one of 23 designs released.
Hand thrown with some wonderful texture, this piece is quite large at 18.5"D x 2"H. This can be displayed or used as a showstopping center piece of your next dinner party. less
