This Helen Frankenthaler very rare vintage 1988 Abstract Expressionist lithograph print custom framed large Modernist exhibition poster " Mauve District " 1966, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Abstract Expressionist poster print is published by The Museum of Modern Art, New York on the occasion of the " Helen Frankenthaler : A Paintings Retrospective " exhibition. Printed in 1988 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Frankenthaler in 1966 titled " Mauve District ", Mrs. Donald B. Straus Fund, copyright 1988 The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Helen Frankenthaler ( 1928 - 2011 ) is an American Abstract Expressionist painter of a liberal Jewish background, and is a major contributor to the history of Postwar Modernist Painting. She exhibited her work for over six decades, spanning several generations of Abstract painters while continuing to produce vital and ever changing new art works.
Her work has been the subject of several retrospective exhibitions including The Museum of Modern Art New York, The Whitney Museum, The Jewish Museum, and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has been exhibited worldwide since the 1950's, and was awarded The National Medal of the Arts in 2001. Her artworks are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print framed Abstract Expressionist large format exhibition poster print measures 29 1/2" W X 36 1/4" H X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern matte brushed brass finish gold tone metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
