This piece was painted on heavy white paper and mounted on gator board, a very sturdy but lightweight type of foam core. Its advantage is that it does not need glass, and so the piece is much more visually accessible with no barrier. Also it can be easily handled or transported by one person. Already to hang with attached wire on its back and small wood blocks to keep it parallel to the wall and not slanted in at bottom (see photo). A frame may be added if desired but is not necessary.
The surface is beautifully rustic and varied composed of several layers of different materials including latex paint, brown papers, and canvas. For spatial and compositional structure, soft black charcoal is used as well.
