This versatile piece was originally intended as a dressing table (vanity), but can be used well as a desk, sideboard, media cabinet/TV stand, entry table, and more. It was originally paired with a long vertical mirror (see image in the White & Newton catalog circa 1960s).

White and Newton of Portsmouth were a popular furniture design and production company in Britain during the midcentury period; under the design direction of the Arthur Edwards. The company was known for producing furniture with, clean modern lines, often out of teak wood, though its higher end products (like this one) often used rosewood, mahogany, and Afromosia (aka African Teak).

This piece is in impeccable condition, with original brand markings. Underwent professional restoration in 2022 and was hardly used since then (mainly decorative), so it remains in beautiful condition. The only flaw is a subtle faded ring on the top (pictures show accurately). I suspect the legs may have been lengthened at some point so the piece could serve as a desk, but I am not sure. If so, it was seamlessly done. less
