As a longtime clarinetist in … more Original oil painting by the German artist Otto Hellmeier (1909-1996), a man of two muses. As a longtime clarinetist in the Munich Philharmonic and the radio orchestra, he gained regional fame not only as a musician but also as an artist. He was elevated to the position of chairman and jury member of the Munich Artists' Association (Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft).

The present painting, executed in an impressionistic style, depicts a bay of Venice illuminated by moonlight, with sailboats and a fascinating nocturnal sky. It is painted on hardboard with oil paint. The artist's signature, "Otto Hellmeier," is located in the lower left corner of the work. Additionally, the painting is titled "Venedig bei Nacht" ("Venice at Night") on the reverse side and signed again. It is framed with high quality. The work is in very good condition.
