*The Corona Typewriter Company, founded around 1907 as the Standard Typewriting Company, was an American manufacturer of typewriters. Their claim to fame was the Corona, a portable typewriter that found success for its ease of use and portability. The company officially changed its name to Corona Typewriter Company in 1914 to reflect the success of the Corona model. In 1926, they merged with Smith & Brothers Typewriter Company to become Smith-Corona, a brand known for typewriters throughout the 20th century. Though Smith-Corona no longer manufactures typewriters, the company still exists today, focusing on industrial ribbons and labels. less
