Beautiful, solid wood side chairs made during the first half of the previous century - 1870's-1890's. Made of solid walnut wood that has been completely stained and finished (not painted). The blue needlepoint on both the seat and back is exquisite with floral details.
Notice the lovely, handmade decorative spoon carvings of nature common of Eastlake - leaves, acorns, fruit and other bits of nature that are lightly incised -what great accents! The carving at the top of each is known as Pagoda Chinoiserie style. The back and seat cushions are upholstered with a blue tapestry with floral details. The front two legs feature rolling wooden casters and the back two legs are stationery and it was meant to wheel around the room with ease.
These chairs were often used as Parlor Chairs, Fireplace Side Chairs, Occasional Chairs though could be used as a Dining Chair.
