The piece has a double face, and this kind of mask is called "Kpélié".
The piece bears the effigy of the chameleon, a highly symbolic animal among the Senoufo.
The mask, carved in a hard and dense wood, is extremely finely carved, with many details.
The back of the object shows traces or erosions attesting to its age.
