- This is an absolutely beautiful art nouveau hand-painted and hand-crafted earthenware vase from Sala Kakel- och Keramikfabrik (Tile and Ceramic … more This is an absolutely beautiful art nouveau hand-painted and hand-crafted earthenware vase from Sala Kakel- och Keramikfabrik (Tile and Ceramic Factory) made in the early 20th century. This exquisite art nouveau vase features a curved design with an eggshell beige background glaze adorned with beautiful hand-painted red flowers, possibly geraniums, in shades of red, black, and green. The mouth rim of the vase is elegantly painted black, with an extra-thin black ring just below the upper edge. There's an adorable painted green leaves on the back of the vase. The vase is marked "Sala 948" with hand-painted details underneath. Model number 948 is documented in a catalogue from Sala Kakel- och Keramikfabrik, a photo of which is included among the attached images. This vase can be used as a centerpiece on a dining table, mantelpiece, or sideboard, adding a touch of vintage beauty to any room. Its curved form and delicate hand-painted details make it a stunning accent piece, perfect for displaying fresh flowers or as a standalone decorative item. ABOUT Sala Kakel- och Keramikfabrik 1904-1932 Carl Hildor Lundgren, born in 1870, founded Sala Kakel- och Keramikfabrik in 1904 after apprenticing as a tile stove maker. Initially small, the factory grew, notably profiting during World War I by stockpiling glaze additives. Despite declining tile stove production, the factory expanded in 1924 to include ornament manufacturing. Lundgren's son-in-law, Olle Forsell, joined as head of design. Tragically, in 1932, a fire destroyed the factory, prompting Lundgren to sell to Upsala Ekeby and retire. He thereafter focused on real estate, while Forsell continued representing Upsala Ekeby. Lundgren's legacy persists through Sala's industrial history, with notable figures like Forsell contributing to its ceramic heritage. less
