A striking oil on board painting with a Brutalist aesthetic, by Catalan artist Jaume Rocamora. Rocamora was born in Tortosa in 1946 and this is a rare early work depicting the monolithic towers of La Suda Castle which look out over the city and the Ebro valley below. Rocamora is established in geometric abstraction and has exhibited internationally as well as widely across Spain, including at the Museo Picasso; he currently has work held in the Tate collection. His work often connects the architectural aesthetics of the German Bauhaus with a warm, rich Mediterranean essence, a combination which is exemplified in this particular artwork. Signed verso.
