While it could be used as a carving board, we don't recommend that as this board is smooth and appears to have been rarely, if ever, used. We've added 2 tempered glass bowls in rich cobalt blue that fit comfortably in the dip carve outs. The bottom surface is completely unmarked - it could arguably be used as a carving surface if you choose to double the utility of this piece.
