This is a lovely Historic Early 1800s Christian Religious Bishop's Church Bench....
This rare and exceptionally beautiful and functionable Two seater Bench is heavily and gorgeously hand carved all the way around from the bottom, top and sides., backs and even carved with design and religious sayings under the 2 seats.... that are visible when both seats are lifted up.
It depicts two main carved Religious scenes on the top back of each seat....
the back top of the the first seat is carved the scene of Jesus healing the blind man...when this seat is lifted up is their is carved the quote "Thou Standeth by Faith" ....
The Second Seat.. the carving on the back part of the top of the seat depicts Jesus and possibly another miracle.. when this seat is lifted, you see the carved quote.. "I am the bread of life" .
The top is heavily carved...
"Blessed is the Man Who Endureth Temptation" .. and beneath this is carved the date 1712 in Roman Numerals..

There are also carved detaiked scrolls and floral on the sides and solid legs and turned legs.
The Bench has neen dated to the early to mid 1800s and is in Good Condition... there is wear on the two seats from use and natural wear throughout the years...
The structure and seating is solid.
The Bench originally came from a New Orleans Church and would make a lovely and very meaningful spiritual addition to your home - and or private chapel.... full of prayers and blessings.
It would also make a great addition to a Church.

Height from floor to the top of the seat ,... 21 inches
Total width across.... 61 inches
17 inches in Depth..
Each seat measures 14 inches in width x 17 in depth....
