Rare find. Set of 3 souvenir ashtrays from the famed Pink Adobe, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Hand constructed and hand painted. The Pink Adobe opened in 1944; these were likely made not long afterward in the late 1940s or 1950s. Possibly made in Mexico; definitely in the style of Mexican redware pieces produced for tourists.
Set of 3 includes:
~ 1 glazed ashtray
3.5 inches diameter x 1 inch tall
Cream glaze with brown text and a floral design in brown, blue, and green
~ 2 unglazed ashtrays
3.25 inches diameter x 1.75 inches tall
Unglazed terra cotta with raised relief "P" on front and back, rust painted cigarette rests
Low fired ceramics are particularly susceptible to damage; these are in great condition which suggests they were seldom used. Please see Condition Report for details.
