The box was made in Mexico during the mid 20th Century and it is engraved on the bottom :belart Mexico 200. See below for more information about this gemstone.
The box is rectangular in shape and it is surrounded with polished sheets of Rhyolite stone. The base is brass as well as the banding. There is an aged felt insert on the bottom of the interior of the box, which can be easily removed if so desired. This red felt is original to the box. The bottom of the box was left "as found" showing the beautiful patina commensurate with age.

EXCELLENT CONDITION. The Bird's Eye Rhyolite stone and the solid brass banding, have been hand-polished. Keep in mind the brass banding will tarnish over time.
