The support surface is heavy watercolor paper that was gessoed for prep. This piece is was created in Sedona, Az at a favorite trailhead. I finished it up just before snow fell. The application is thick and juicy.

My work is probably best described as Contemporary Impressionism thought my more abstract work moves toward Expressionism. After over 45 years of creating I see my work evolving and actually getting much looser and relaxed. Maybe this comes with age but being able to make marks that are pleasing is my real goal. I rarely totally finish a piece, I don’t like telling the whole story but would rather leave something out for you the viewer to fill in with how you see it.
My studio is in the Southwestern United States, but I travel and paint from all my experiences. Everything seems to influence my work from the vegetables I cook with to the wonderful drawings done by a small grandchild. See less
