There are a few small areas where the edges of the board canvas has been disturbed and paint has peeled. See photos. These minor imperfections do not detract from the overall look of this work, and indeed they are well masked by the post-impressionist/expressionist style of this painting. It's a gorgeous vintage piece. less

There is nothing like an original, mid-20th century artwork to warm up a room, and this incredibly nostalgic oil-on-board painting of children hovering over a scrabble board by Merrel Keyes Multhaup (b. 1922) is just the sort of timeless piece draws its viewers in and conjures happy memories of early youth. Looks like this happy group might have been seated poolside on a warm summer day with one player dressed in a bathing suit and wrapped in a towel. A nice large painting, it is presented in a mid-20th century wood frame with linen matting and gold accents, which beautifully compliments the various brown, white, and gold hues in this lovely work. Signed on the lower right and titled and signed on the back.
Artist Merrel Keyes Multhaup was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and studied fine art at the State University of Iowa in the 1940s. She served on the teaching faculty at the Summit Art Association and Hunterdon Art Center (New Jersey) and as a studio instructor in Westport, Connecticut and Springfield and Bloomfield, New Jersey. She is recipient of various awards in juried exhibitions in Iowa, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York City. less
