A delightful oil painting by American artist Everett Woodson (1933-2016) depicting a rural landscape view with an aging barn under threatening skies. Woodson was born in Independence, Missouri, and is known for his dramatic renderings of American barns in different settings, seasons, and locations. A beautiful mid-20th century rendering, the colors are vivid and the scene dramatic. It is presented in it original carved wood frame with linen matting. Signed in the lower right. This painting also had tucked into the back of its frame a typewritten note with the following statement about the artist:
"It is not surprising that Everett followed the same path as his ancestors, several of whom achieved national recognition as professional artists. Woodson received his formal art training at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kansas City. Mr. Woodson has earned several awards for his farmhouses and barns, including first prize at the Missouri State Fair, the Mid-America Fine Arts League, and at the Truman bicentennial. Mr. Woodson's genius is tied to reality and vividness of his subjects. 'His barns are weathered and peaceful, his skies are threatening or somber, the snow is fresh or soiled,' J Martin Fuller, Kansas City Artist Students Newsletter." less
