A pair of 19th century Danish pine side chairs. Wood peg and square nail construction. Lovely carving at cross supports … more A pair of 19th century Danish pine side chairs. Wood peg and square nail construction. Lovely carving at cross supports and also at vertical support. They have a gentle wave like appearance (see third photo of side view). The seats are wider at the front than the back: 15" wide at the front, 13.75" at the back.There is reinforcement that is newer under the backs of both seats. Both seats have horizontal splits in the seats. One chair has a repaired full break along the top back. It has some wobble as the repair is old and wearing. Both have wear commensurate with age. Discoloration, dings and one chair has wear at a rear leg (left chair in the second photo). Right chair has surface cracking at the right front of the seat, almost imperceptible. There are tiny dots of white paint. a splotch at the rear of the seat (last photo). Both are sturdy and have currently been used. The repaired split through the back top cross piece should be repaired eventually but the chair is functional. less
