Though very little information … Read more What makes this mercantile peppercorn tin most interesting is the manner in which it was painted. Though very little information is available on the McKee Weakley Co. of Dayton Ohio, it would appear they offered an entire line of spices, and also may have supplied a bank of 'cubbies' in which each tin was displayed, hence the reason the painting only goes halfway down the sides of the tin, unlike most which are fully decorated. Shop keepers would have simply opened the tin lid and scooped out what they needed without having to remove the tin from the bank of shelf cubbies. Overall condition is good, free of dents or rust. Surface wear as shown in photos. 10" high x 6.75 wide x 8.5 deep. See less
