A rare 'Faretra 48′ ceiling light by D'Urbino and Lomazzi for Artimede. Comprised of a conical thick Murano glass shade, chrome neck and circular glass base.
A little background: D'Urbino and Lomazzi refers to a design partnership of three architects: Jonathan De Pas, Donato D'Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi. Credited with connecting radical design with everyday life, they experimented with new materials and technologies championing an avante guard aesthetic (this piece in particular is an excellent example of their work).
Winners of Compasso d'Oro in 1979, the Faretra 48" was designed in 1992 and while Jonathan passed in 1991, Donato and Paolo continued working until 2017.
