Vintage 8" Pitcher / Carafe
Hand Painted Flowers, Blue Trim, #17 (c. 1960s)
This is really a quite impressive pitcher or carafe, from Talavera (Spain). It has a richly hand-painted design of large dark pink flowers with fan-like green leaves, blue highlights, and yellow and brown details on a subtle pink and blue background. The rim is decorated with dark blue swirled stripes on the pale pink glaze.
The vintage piece is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, crazing, or wear. There are a few glaze pops and bumps, which apparently is typical for Spanish Talavera pottery. The pitcher measures 8 inches high at the rim, 5 inches wide near the base, 4.5 inches wide across the rim, and 4.5 inches across the unglazed foot.
The bottom has a detailed "T A" logo with "Talavera | No. 17." I'm not sure of the age, but 1960s seems consistent with the design, shape, and mark. less
