The artist used modeling paste, glass bead gel and lava gel in the acrylic paint to create this unusual texture, evoking an old, weathering surface. The Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi celebrates transience and impermanence, and finds beauty in aged, imperfect things.
Wall Wabi Sabi has a UV protective varnish, and is signed on the back. It is in a black wood floater frame with a narrow gold front edge.
Laurie MacMillan has enjoyed numerous awards and five solo exhibitions, and has participated in approximately a hundred juried group shows. Her work is held in personal and business collections across the U.S. and in Britain. She is currently represented by 10 West Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
