Description: Fresh from a New York City estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this gorgeous Antique French Late 19th … more Fresh from a New York City estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this gorgeous Antique French Late 19th / Early 20th Century Vernis Martin Painted Cylinder / Roll Top Desk. Great French quality, with fine curved lines in the style of Louis XV. Made of Mahogany and dressed down in striking gilt bronze mounts. Top features a bronze gallery around the display surface, and below are three drawers. Section below has a large curved cylinder lid / door with gorgeous Vernis Martin painted scene. When the very bottom drawer is pulled open, the mechanism opens the lid to reveal another three drawers above the leather lined writing surface (folding lid below the painting). The interior is finished same way as is the piece. Standing on four long tall downward tapering Louis XV curved legs. Superb quality bronze mounts! Condition is good overall, shows light age / use wear, was refinished recently (please see photos). Size is great to fit in any room, house or apartment, at 42" tall to top finial, 31" wide, 21.5" deep, desk writing surface is " height, and the knee clearance is " in height.
