This Andy Warhol very rare vintage 1979 lithograph print " Reptile Shoes " custom framed extra large Pop Art fashion poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.

Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objets and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and loved by millions.
During the late 1970's Warhol began accepting commissions from a range of manufacturers and businesses. Earlier in the 1950's, Andy Warhol worked as an illustrator for clothing and shoe companies. For several years he illustrated shoes for advertisements, a cultural symbol that would fascinate him throughout his career. The elegant high-heeled shoe, usually depicted in profile, was Andy's favorite, which he portrayed in a range of colors and materials. His interest in shoes are emblematic of his fascination with commercialism and reproduction.
In this unique artwork originally first created by Warhol in ink and watercolor depicting a ladies' shoe in the shape of an imaginary breed of snake became a design for an advertising campaign to showcase the reptile skin shoes made popular on the salon runways in Paris, brought to New York by the popular brand Lighthouse Footwear, alongside fashion icons of the time such as Halston and Geoffrey Beene.
The rare out of print extra large format lithograph print framed fashion poster measures 45 5/8" W X 30 5/8" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish rose gold tone metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, very light signs of handling, and very light minor wear.
