A lovely antique English circa 1802 Sterling silver and oak wine bottle coaster/drip catcher with an Greek key pattern around the edge, and in the center an Armorial design of Prince of Wales feathers and the Latin motto FIDE SED CUI VIDE which translates to "Trust, But Be Careful of Whom You Trust."
Excellent condition for its 200+ years of age, light surface marks and bumps but no dents or damage. It has polished up beautifully! Fully hallmarked for sterling silver assayed in London in the year 1802, the makers mark appears to be from ROBERT & SAMUEL HENNELL.
Measures approximately 5.25” across at the base by 1.25” tall, this coaster is big enough to hold even chunkier bottles of wine & champagne (though not quite large enough for magnums, you would need 7 inch coaster for a bottle that size).
