Barnyard red birdhouses, watering cans, crows and baskets of Ivy adorn this rustic folk art style dish set. The design is in perfect condition and encircles the outer edge of the plates and the outside of the cereal bowls. There are eight dinner plates, eight bread and butter plates (smaller everyday plates) and twelve cereal bowls- because we know that the kids are going to take them and leave them somewhere mysterious. There is a Bermuda triangle in everyone's house that eats cereal bowls, teaspoons and large tumbler glasses. We all know it. Also, I'm using the term kids loosely- some kids are older on the outside. If you know what Corelle is, you know that this is what you want for your everyday dinnerware. Can it be broken? Absolutely. If you really, really, really, really try. Like, REALLY. The design is in perfect condition- no damage and encircles the outside of the bowls. There are no chips, cracks or "flea bites" - tiny chips on the outer edge- in any pieces.
* please note that vintage Corelle is made of a type of glass ceramic blend - layers of laminated glass super-heated and compressed-and there is lead on the *inside* layers of the plates-used to fuse the layers of glass together. In order to get to the lead, the glass itself would have to be broken. Please do not eat off broken glass. The place most likely to do this is the outer edge of the piece - this is called a "flea bite". While it's safe to eat off dishes with flea bites on the outside edge as you don't have food on the edge itself- that's gross and should be tossed.
The dinner plates are 10.25 x 1, the bread & butter plates 6.75 x 1, the bowls 6.25 x 2. less
