This very comfortable antique ladder back chair was crafted in Normandy, France circa 1940. Built of walnut wood and attributed to Charles Dudouyt, the chair sits on round turned legs and features two ladders in the back embellished with round finials at the top. The wide and deep seat is upholstered with the original hand woven rush. The country chair is in excellent condition and adorns a rich walnut patina. The versatile and sturdy low "chauffeuse" chair is meant to be placed close to the fire place to stay warm, but could also be used for occasional seating.
