Wheel-Back/Spider-Web Motif Wood/Upholstered Arm Chairs (a Pair) (George Hepplewhite Inspired).
Elegant set of two Wheel/Back Spider-Web motif back wood arm chairs with original seat cushion/fabric. Designer, furnituremaker, and cabinetmaker, George Hepplewhite, is credited to be inspiration of this design.
These accent/occasional armchairs feature an oval back that is fashioned into a spider's web pattern above an ample upholstered seat with brass round heads accenting fabric upholstery work.
The chairs' front legs are tapered ending with spade feet; back legs are of a gentle curving saber style.
Carving details and medallions (the center of the web has nicely carved details in a floral pattern) complement this functional piece of art that may be placed in a number of settings: formal rooms, around a tea table, extra dining chairs when in need, office seating areas, bedrooms, dens, library - always for use by our guests in any of our rooms.
These occasional chairs are works of art.
Original seat coverings.
Chairs originally designed with intentional distressed look when created.
We don't remember who manufactured them. We purchased the chairs at a high-end furniture store in Northern Virginia multiple decades ago.
These are legacy-keeping and legacy-giving pieces (those items we cherish and want to hand down to others whenever possible).

SOME NOTES ABOUT GEORGE HEPPLEWHITE STYLE FURNITURE:
"Named after London designer and cabinetmaker George Hepplewhite (?-1768), whose The Cabinet Maker and Upholsterers Guide was published posthumously by his wife Alice in 1788, Hepplewhite furniture dates from about 1780-1810. It is a neoclassic style and falls within the Federal period in the United States.
Hepplewhite style often overlaps with that of British designer Thomas Sheraton, whose 1791 guidebook, like Hepplewhite's, documented popular furniture designs of the day. The slightly older Hepplewhite style tends to be more ornate, with substantial carving and curvilinear shapes in comparison to Sheraton style. Considered "city furniture," Hepplewhite was especially popular in early American states along the Eastern Seaboard, from New England to the Carolinas."
